In 2018 I was so grateful for the opportunity and support to start @peaceloveand_chickpeas! I had a lot of peaks and valleys in my personal life throughout the past year that made it hard to always have the most positive outlook on life the majority of the time. Finding a passion for cooking, nutrition, exercise and just genuinely taking care of myself helped me come out on the other side a happier, healthier and more fulfilled person inside and out.

I started a new job and moved to a different state in 2018, ran my fastest half marathon, reached health milestones that I never imagined I would achieve, I truly became the best version of myself and regardless of the “valleys” I am enormously thankful for the peaks I had the chance to experience.

I don’t love the idea of resolutions (too vague and hard to measure lol) but I DO like the idea of creating almost a bucket list as well as setting a “theme” for yourself in the next year (from shinetext.com).

My theme for the year is accessibility. The way the theme idea is suppose to work, is that you build goals around this with the overarching concept as the backbone. Some ways that I want to be more accessible in 2019 related to cooking, health and fitness are; be open to group fitness opportunities or working out with others (there is a group that runs on Tuesday nights where I live, and I have been too intimidated to go, in 2019 I want to try to join them!) Another way I’d like to be more accessible is my sharing smaller goals monthly(?) on @peaceloveand_chickpeas somehow. I think that being more open about what I’m doing/why will make me more accountable to check in with myself as well as give people a better idea of what I’m working on or towards for their own knowledge! Another goal of mine is to make easy, health and delicious food more accessible to myself. Moving to a new place and starting a completely different weekly routine has changed my meal-prep style to me minimal at best. I’d like to get into a new routine so that I can ensure that each week (most) of my meals will be easy for me to access, as well as tasty and good for me! One of the more personal ways I’d like to be more accessible in 2019 is by becoming more open with giving and receiving love. I’ve noticed in its various forms, I have a difficult time accepting love (i.e. praise, compliments, etc.) I also just have always struggled being openly expressive of my own feelings. In 2019 I’d like to find a way to share my affections more (and be more comfortable doing this as well) and I’d also like to become better at opening myself up to it being given to me.

Thanks to everyone who has supported me on this journey and follows along, I’ve been so appreciative of all the love I get through this account and IRL!! Here’s to a chickpea-filled 2019!!
